Experience
I have been working in Financial Services ever since I joined Natwest Bank at the tender age of 18!
I guess this is where I should say that I loved it from the start, yet I didn’t! I spent the first few years trying to escape, until someone asked me to work on mortgages, and I was hooked!
Helping my customers with their biggest purchase is always a pleasure, but it’s not just that. What I saw was I was helping them to realize their dreams, which is such a big deal. It did not take me long to study and take my exams and become a fully qualifies Mortgage Advisor! I was no longer looking for a new job, the new job had found me.
As I grew in experience, I joined the Private Banking Team, working closely with the Relationship Managers, looking after the varied and complex mortgage needs of their clients. This was such an exciting time, often travelling around the country to meet clients. I learned a lot and built up a lot of trust with the managers and clients alike.
However, times change, and in 2011 I was made redundant. After the initial shock, I discovered that there were other opportunities for me. A couple of ex colleagues had set up their own business and asked me to join them as a self employed Mortgage Advisor.
It didn’t take long before my ex clients found me. They recommend me to their families and friends, and my business grew. Besides helping clients with their mortgages, I began arranging insurance for them as well, and qualified as an Equity Release Advisor.
I came across some of the Kingsbridge Team at various events. One thing led to another, and they invited me to join the team. I liked the people; I liked Kingsbridge’s ethical values and I have not looked back since.
I love my job and clients and I love they keep coming back to me. I believe that my honest, straightforward approach and years of experience stand me I good stead with customers old and new.
Outside of Work
In my spare time, I enjoy holidays, being outdoors, gardening, and painting. I’m still hoping to get a rescue dog to join us on country walks – having nearly worn my husband down over the years!
